A Campout on the Great Lawn, Gifts in Paseo Park and a Detour at Russ Pitman: Bellaire's November, Weekend by Weekend

November 5, 2026

The City of Bellaire's calendar lists November's events, but the groups that actually stage the busiest dates are mostly organized around the parks themselves. PATRONS for Bellaire Parks backs the Friday concert and sells tickets to the overnight campout. The Bellaire Culture and Arts Board runs the fall festival on the boulevard. The Nature Discovery Center is hosting its gala this month, and a short drive away its construction crew has fenced off the south end of Russ Pitman Park.

Those are the same groups showing up twice. The people asking residents to come out this month are, in several cases, the people building what residents will use next year. That link runs through November from the first Friday to the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Friday Night, Then Saturday Night, on the Same Lawn

The month's first weekend opens Friday at Bellaire Town Square. The Great Lawn at 7008 S. Rice Ave. hosts Party at The Pavilion featuring Larry Grass Band on Friday, November 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. The city describes it as a free concert series supported by PATRONS for Bellaire Parks and the City, and it invites people to bring coolers and picnic blankets.

Less than a day later, the same grass turns into a campground. Tents in Town, the city's 17th annual "Ultimate Urban Campout," runs from 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, until 10 a.m. Sunday on the Great Lawn beside the Bellaire Civic Center. Registration goes through the PATRONS ticket page, and the pricing shows how the night is set up.

Ticket Price Service fee
Family-of-four campsite $200 $5
Additional camper $40 $1
VIP family-of-four package $600 $15
VIP additional camper $80 $2

The $400 difference between the two family tiers buys the gear. According to PATRONS, VIP family tickets include a large tent, two beds, linens and blankets. Every camper gets the same evening, which includes food and activities, bounce houses, face painting, balloon art and telescope stargazing. The standard campsite suits a family that already owns a tent. The VIP tier suits a family that would rather show up and sleep.

Evelyn's Park has its own program the same Saturday. Its November calendar lists an iWrite festival on November 7 from noon to 4 p.m. at Trevilion. A family could spend the early afternoon there and still reach the Great Lawn in time to set up a tent.

The Pumpkin Bin Opens the Monday After Halloween

Halloween fell on Saturday, October 31, so jack-o'-lanterns need somewhere to go after the holiday. The city's free Pumpkin Compost Drop Off runs from Monday, November 2, through December 11. The collection container is at Edith and Baldwin, listed at 4401 Edith Street.

According to BellaireConnect's event notice, the rules are short and firm:

  • Pumpkins must be bare.
  • No paint, candles, bags or decorations.
  • Pumpkins left at the curb will not be recycled.

The curbside rule matters most. A pumpkin set out at the curb won't be recycled, while the same pumpkin, with its candle removed and carried to Edith Street, will be. The window is almost six weeks long, so the drop-off fits easily into an errand run any time before Thanksgiving or after.

Holiday Shopping Starts on Bellaire Boulevard

The second Saturday moves the crowd a short distance to Paseo Park, 5000 Bellaire Blvd. The Bellaire Culture and Arts Board holds its annual Fall Arts and Crafts Festival there on Saturday, November 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The listing presents it as a chance to enjoy mild weather and buy holiday gifts, which puts gift shopping in Bellaire almost two weeks before Thanksgiving.

Paseo Park runs along the boulevard where the Bellaire Triangle has been adding tenants. Community Impact reported that CAVA opened at 5401 Bellaire Blvd. on July 28. On the same corridor, the Houston Chronicle reported last December that a Trader Joe's is planned for 5130 Bellaire Blvd. BellaireConnect now puts its opening at mid-2027. The same center has applied for a specific-use permit for a drive-through window at a space planned for Chipotle. The festival will feel familiar, but some of the street around it will look different next year.

Russ Pitman Park, Entered From the North

Here the month's two threads meet. Russ Pitman Park, home of the Nature Discovery Center, is under construction. On October 28, BellaireConnect published the center's notice that work had begun on the Enchanted Woods Nature Play Space.

According to the Nature Discovery Center, the project rebuilds the existing nature-play area as a landscape where children can climb, dig, splash, build, imagine and explore. It has three play zones anchored by a Cottage Classroom and an Observation Deck. The classroom is air-conditioned and planned for nature programs, camps, school groups and community learning. It has tables for 24, counter space, a sink, a presentation TV and a restroom. That gives the park a climate-controlled room for programs on a Houston August afternoon.

The fundraising goal is $2.5 million, and the center's progress display shows $2,290,457 raised, or 91 percent. The roughly $210,000 still to raise is a small share of the total, and the work has already started.

Until it's finished, getting into the park works differently:

  1. The south end is closed. The southeast corner of the park and the whole south parking lot along Evergreen Street are off-limits during construction.
  2. Park on the north side. Use the Center's north lot off Newcastle Street or nearby side streets, and keep neighbors' driveways clear.
  3. Walk in from Newcastle. Foot access is through the Warbler Gate, a trail about halfway along the park, or the Cardinal Gate, with red brick columns and a red brick path to the Center building.
  4. Skip Evergreen entirely. There is no entry from Evergreen Street on foot or by car.

The trails, the Discovery Rooms and the animal ambassadors are all still open. Park hours stay dawn to dusk year-round. The Discovery Rooms are open Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A weekend morning visit still works. It just starts on Newcastle.

The Gala Behind the Fencing

The Nature Discovery Center's 2026 Twilight Gala is Friday, November 20, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Junior League of Houston. Brenda and Tom Koch are the honorees, and proceeds benefit the center's programs and its nature-education mission. The city calendar lists the gala alongside the concert and the campout. It's one evening on the calendar, held by the organization whose construction is reshaping a Bellaire park right now.

That pattern shows up all month. PATRONS for Bellaire Parks supports the Great Lawn concert and runs the campout's ticketing. The Culture and Arts Board puts on the Paseo Park festival. The Nature Discovery Center hosts its gala while crews work in Russ Pitman Park. Most of the weekends on this calendar exist because a group organized around a specific Bellaire public space organized them.
